Mucky...That has to be one of the sweetest I've seen yet. Great job. Hope we can hook up at the dunes someday.I would LOVE to see that thing(Christine) run...WOW. Congrats on a nice build. Who did your motorwork? I am posting on my husbands name. He used Craycraft in Texas to build his 690 and I was gonna send it there but if you know of anyone local I could talk to I would be interested. Do you ride the Cinders, do you race the hills at the dunes....What gearing do you use. and if you flat drag, do you change your gearing?I am currently using a 13 tooth front., a Sparks pipe with 165 jet on the 4th clip and a Sparks air filter with the lid off.I dynoed at 37.5. My husband set it up for me. I beat most piped and jetted Z's but I want more now. I'm tired of playing.

Go with the yoshi 450 kit with the port and polsih with web cams big grind. With this setup you will be pulling 52+hp and hopefuly beating your husbands craycraft., I had actaully called craycraft and i dont think that they do anywork on the Z-400???????
I have the same set up , but i have hotcams in right know which are actually getting replaced tommorw with the webcams i ordered. Hot cams wieigh duoble of what webcams do and have week grind espeically for stageII. My yoshi dumps on heavly modded yfz-450s and trx-450r and 686cc raptors with high comp. pistons port and polish with stage II raptor cams.

MRDR thanks for the input at this point I am trying to do my build in stages. I am working on 416 right now. I am thinking that by port/polish/cam for now and I can do rod work later and still not have to rebuy my cam etc. Halloween is first dune run and I need my bike ready....good to know difference between hot cam and web. I didn't know weight difference. I need input in on gearing... I know I will need to change but don't know to what....I ride flat drags in deep sand....dunes/race uphill/deep sand.....cinder extreme hill climbing deep cinders......
thanks in advance for any info......Stallions Wife.

No slam dog, but that 450 won't come close to my Raptor...Many have tried and all have failed. When will you be in Phoenix again so we can hit the dunes bro?

well i would go with the elka shocks.but also if you can find 450rshocks cheap and revalve them for her weight also they work good too on the z.the z heads flow very well from the factory you might find a 1 -2 hp from a port job.i run the athena 434 kit in my z and with that kit iam running the with some modded yfz in the power department.you can pick the athena kit for under $600.also you might look at the 470 alba kit too.the yoshi kit like murdr said is also good.but before you look at the yoshi kit look at the GT thunder kit because the gt kit is the top 450kit out of all in my opinion.

What do you mean by that? Revalve them? Sorry I am totally new to suspension!

Suzuki Doug Revalving your shocks is pretty cool. I just learned a little bit about this this week...My understanding is that they take the old rezzy shock and cut it open with a grinder of some sort..there are valves inside, the size of the valve determines how much fluid is dispersed. Whoever is revalving it will want to know the type of terrain you are riding in and your weight... they then adjust or replace the valves accordingly. The resevoir (sp?) allows you to add more fluid and to keep it cool. When the fluid in the shock gets hot it looses density...I have heard it said "amateurs go for speed and pros go for handling" I have seen some quads with major $$$ put into their suspension and the rider floats across the whoops and extremely rough terrain it also helps in the jumps and cornering....Stallion's wife
