2004 ltz400 no power
#11
My '04 z400 has lights but no power to the engine. looking at the micro fische for the '04 z400 wiring harness it shows another fuse block but I can not find where it is. On mine I have put an ohm meter on the switches all seem to be good. Can you short across your starter relay to get the engine to turn?

I've got a 05 LTZ 400... Did a top end rebuild... Put big bore on... It stated right up... Had neutral lights and brake light... Everything worked... Rode it across the yard tried to restart it no power at all... No lights won't turn over it's like it's not getting any power at all any solutions maybe

I've never worked on an LTZ but all Suzukis I have worked on use a main fuse integral with the starter solenoid, I wonder why the earlier posts on this thread don't mention this. Suzies are also prone to faulty ignition switches so, if it isn't the main fuse, check the switch. Trouble is they are stupidly expensive and the Chinese copies are crap.

No, do not do that. Check if the battery is flat first, I assumed you had already done this. If it is flat, charge it up and put it back on the bike. Start up and see if the voltage at the battery wanders between 13 and 14.5v depending on revs, and drops to between 12 and 13v when you switch off. If it does, the stator and regulator are working. With ignition off, disconnect one battery lead and put a high ampage ammeter between lead and terminal. If there is more than 0.01amp drain, disconnect the voltage reg and check if the drain has gone. If it has, fit a new regulator. If all is OK but the battery still goes flat again, get a new battery.

That's the thing... It won't even start... It don't have any power at all.... It won't even get to where it will start... I charged the battery up my aftermarket light works but the bike does have no power at all to it none

If you have no power with a charged battery it can't be the stator that is the problem. Back to my first reply, it has to be fuse or ignition switch, or the wires going between them. You say the main fuse is OK, so check you are getting power to the ignition switch, if you are, check the switch is working.
