Do you guys think I could get an aftermarket fuel injection system for my YFZ 450? That is the only thing getting to me.

LOL Your one of the guys I reported that to!! Oh well, yeah I get ya. That guy registered, only ever posted twice (To his own thread) First post was a link to his ebay auction where he was selling instructions on how to upgrade polaris lights with 55w auto lights. He'll even throw in the part # for $4. I let him know that we're all here to try and help each other, not charge one another for our tips and tricks.
I'm gonna wait on the lt-r450, looks like they got it right on the z by the third year so an 09 lt-r450 is probably in my future.

Sparky8370, I agree with you after thinking about it for awhile. I've put too much into my R to sell it. I've had the thing since I was 16 (5 years) and it would kill me to see someone else drive off with it in their truck. I'll just wait till I get out of college and have both!

puting 8m inch rims on the rear does not not seem to smart to,
They did that for the 06 z400 too. They had carb at 36 mm on one page and 37 mm on another,
Think that is a misprint,
Not an ideal setup for woods riding
looks like they got it right on the z by the third year
Not bashing them either and I do still like the z400, but I think any of you who have owned a zuki QS 250 or 500 zilla know all about those little things, and what it really takes to keep one running smooth.
Now as far as you guys who somehow think this is the best atv ever I think you need to really look around some more. The guy claiming to plan on holding onto his cannondale till he swaps to the atk knows what I am takling about since he is riding a more tech advanced machine that was avail years before (long live the c-dales lol).
It looks to be a good machine (and not even all that bad looking in white lol) but all the specs minus the fuel injection are pretty much in line with all the others. I understand how were all effected by "hype" and your all welcome to sell your fully modded machines for next to nothing (email me specs and price ) but dont be suprized if you find little if any advantge initially and still only a certain amount after you dump another 10K into the new one to make it up to par with what you just sold for 3k (guess what those old R's are really selling for, and its not the 6k some seem to think, and thats why most are getting parted out).
What really confuses the life out of me is that the majority of those looking to lose money on their current "done" machine to buy whatever new model the mfg's throw at us etc are either rec riders or c class racers, and deffinately not the riders who need to have the absolute newest anything to be competitve. you would gain more from doing an extra ten laps a week than you could possiblly see from buying a new stock machine. Sure if your national level pro who's mechanic and sponsers will be totally modding the new one to the point it offers you an advantage over your very closely talented competitiors it makes lots of sense, but for the rest of us its little more than keepin the economy moving.
Maybe I am missing something but buying to fill your ego isnt a good buying decision LMFAO.
Now in defense of the new zuki450 it looks to be a good machine that should perform on a similar level as the other models in its class (still stupid to use the smaller rims though), and maybe even come out on top, but just like we have seen when comparing the others I think it will be more similar than different and will have its own niche areas where it may perform better etc.
Still its all to be seen, and hopefully this release does put additional fire under their competitors to make even better more performance oriented models so that eventually I will see enough of an advantage to trade out of this "old" technology machine I still have and ride with all the new models with all the time.
If only the efforts put into closed course bikes (cr yfz etc) or street bikes (yzf, cbf gsxr etc) were put into our machines I think we would be so pleasantly suprized some would cry.

I wouldn't say that Elka's are any more overrated than anyone else. They just seem to have more capacity to get product to the consumer in a faster fashion than say Axis.
The big thing is the tuners. They use what they find to be most condusive to how they set up shocks. In past years it was PEP that had the big name in shock tuning along with Noleen. They used Works, Axis and Ohlins as a base. Now the trend is more towards Elka because they seem to have a better product out of the box to work with. Now Noleen tunes the Elkas on several Pro's quads, as does Precision Concepts here on the west coast, though they can tune just about any existing shock to perform.
The biggest misnomer is the term "Long Travel" Long travel arms, long travel shocks etc.... It's "Long Shock" setups they are talking about. Sure they offer a little more travel, but so can a different shock on a stock arm...Does that then make stock arms "Long Travel"???
The longer shocks offer better performance and tunability and a small increase in travel. The key is the improved performance of the shocks make it feel like there is a lot more travel to be used.

Good and interesting points!!
Suspension is almost an art and getting it right deffinately makes a night and day difference. Problem seems to be that way too few actually know the right way to do it, and the rest of us are left to fend for ourselves making what we have work (and many dont even bother with that).
There are two older threads that really get into suspension (including the so mis understood long travel issue) but I could only find the link to one of them (and its on here too, wooo hooo)
Suspension Link
I will warn you that its prob the best and most informative, and indepth thread on this you will find on this topic, but its also very long and if your looking to learn from it (as I did) be ready to spend some time with it.
There were also some questions left un answered so if you really know your suspension take a look and see if you can help.
