KQ HighLifter front shock springs review...
#1
As many of you may know, HighLifter makes one inch lift springs for the front shocks of the King Quad, they are actually the same ones used on the Brute Force but happen to fit the KQ perfectly. After riding the King with the stock springs at all preload settings I decided they were utterly unsafe traversing any semi-steep downhill, the rear end simply wanted to ride too damn high giving you the sensation that it was going to endo at any moment. I'm sure many of you are nodding your heads mumbling "ya got that right." I tried every possible combination of front and rear preload settings with the stockers and nothing cured this. Well fellas, thses springs transform the King into a completely different animal, these are the springs the King should have come with from the factory! I had serious concerns of ride quality and the stance of the quad because these are one inch lift springs after all but the ride is not compromised, and the stance is actually better, sits level now. The best combination I have found as of yet is the HighLifter fronts set at setting 1 or softest with the rears set at 3 or 4, this worked quite nicely for my 215 lbs. I also do not have a winch, if I did setting 2 might be in order. I also added 1.5 spacers from HighLifter all the way around to the stock wheels/tires, the combination of the springs/spacers was the best couple hundred bucks I have spent in some time! The next addition will be Holeshot ATR's, which should complete the "sport utility" transformation. So overall, the springs gave me a better ride, a little stiffer but not uncomfortable, they eliminated the tendency of the King to "push" in corners and made the overall riding experience much more enjoyable and safe in my opinion, of course the added 3 inches of width didn't hurt, just thought I'd share for those of y'all on the fence about getting these springs.

Though I would agree there is indeed a push in the corners, I've never felt the sensation that I would endo on any ATV I've ever ridden on any hill of any grade in my life. That's what rear brakes and body english are for. How long have you been riding?

Maybe it's a sport-quad thing. I don't know, but there are definitely some near-vertical hills and creek banks I ride and I definitely worry about going over backwards sometimes, but never forwards. I wasn't meaning to say you were a rookie by the way, just didn't know if maybe you'd just gotten into the sport recently. Thought it was kind of a long shot seeing the mods listed on that first machine though

I think I may have been a little spoiled by the DS and it's stability but the King sure does/did have a wierd tendency to nose dive when braking and the thing that baffles me is that it would nose dive as badly or even worse when using the rear brakes. Combine this nose diving habbit with your typical West Virginia mountainous terrian and you have a recipie for disaster, I'm talking downhills that are virtually vertical. Well, bottom line for me is that most if not all of the King's nose diving traits are gone with the new springs and no offense taken, that's one of the first question I would have asked, myself. And yeah, the listed mods for the DS have yielded me 70+ horses at the wheels, man what a ride! 850 stroker kit is going in this spring, should put me in the low 90's.
