Default Vinson Starting Question

Hey everyone. When i start my 05 vinson i get a ticking sound and it wont start. So i charged the battery and then it was ok, drove it all day and everything was fine. Next day went to start it, same thing just keeps ticking. Could this be just a bad battery or could it be the charging system is not keeping the battery charged. The lights turn on and everuything but it just doesnt have enough to get it to turn over. Thanks

Default Vinson Starting Question

Thanks guys. Went to my dealer yesterday and he said he replace the battery under warranty. If it keeps doing this hes going to check my charging system. Oh any of you use a battery tender when your machine is in the garage. Would it be ok to leave it hooked up all winter?

A quick check of your charging system (this doesn't find all problems) is to check your battery before you start the machine with a voltmeter. Then check the system with the machine running. If your systems is working the voltage running will be higher than while the machine is off. Yes, a battery tender is a good thing. Don't use a battery charger because it puts out too much amperage (usually about 2 amps). A battery tender puts out less than one amp.
