top speed with the z400
#52
With the price of gas I don't even drive 75 in my F150...........
We have a long straight on our track where you can get pretty much wide open on most ATVs..... My father has a speedo on his KFX700 and he hits about 65 before he runs out of gearing.... My z400 is about the same top speed, maybe 1-2 MPH more but that is about it...........
I remember an old Dirt Wheels from the 80 where they took a LTZ500 and a Banshee to the drag strip and I don't think any of them did more than 78.........
I saw an Banshee with slicks once at a drag strip, it was built to the hilt with a huge wheelie bar and all kinds of goodies...... It went just over 90mph in the quarter mile......
I've heard of built up Banshees hitting the 100 mark, but only after extensive custom specific mods.... something like that would certainly not be ridable in the woods or even an MX track.
Not a chance in heck that any stock machine is going anywhere NEAR 80mph.........

Yes. Thank you clarifying that for those dreamers out there.

I don't believe any of you. 3 mos. ago before my Z broke down on me, me and a friend wanted to see just how fast the Z would go. I was on my 03 Prarie 650 and my buddy was on my Z. I was seeing 101 and he was still pulling ahead of me. I guessed he was going about 105-110mph. And the Z is all stock except for the rear tires and the fact I just had the chain tensioner and the tappet clearance adjusted.

i just got a z400 and the 3rd owner of it had a bunch of work done to it for racing and he was clocked and topped by a cop for doing 95. im not sure if it will do that but im going to have someone clock me on it. im curious myself. im the 5th owner and all the others people that have had i know and all of them have recked it. but when i get it clocked and get the list of what all its had done ill let you know.

It does not hit 95, that means that your 400 is doing the same speeds if not more than Honda's factory built 450R and the 700XX they built for the Baja 1000. If it does do 95... it takes 12 miles to get to speed.

yeah i doubt it will do 95. id have to see it to believe it. it flys through the gears and is fun on trails so thats all im really worried about. the 3rd owner had it dynoed and was pushin around 100 hp. its got pep but i dont think its no 95 top speed. besides id rather have great accleration anyways over top speed any day. does anyone know if they have a problem with over heating after a 440 bb kit? ive heard the do but i havnt had any problems, well yet.

100HP on a Z400? Come on, My CR500 pushes about 62. That means they added nearly 70hp?
I don't doubt that you have a great machine that has been worked. People struggle to get Raptor 700s to 75hp let alone increase by that much. Someone was pulling your leg to get a sale.
