Definitely not the results I'm looking for. Some of your runs on the new ecm were slower than the old one. I'm waiting to see what yoshimura has to offer and possibly Bub racing, because no matter which ECM Suzuki puts in it there will still be a lag, they think it's to dangerous to have full power.

Well redgoblin , im not saying i dont believe you, and im not saying that im 100% sure that suzuki didnt plan the ecm that way, maybe they really did. im still skeptical though, you said they know exactly how to fix it, then why after testing did it not make a BIG difference in the results. heck i want a KQ myself, i think it is a nice quad with good features and all, but until someone gets there head outta there shiester and fixes all the problems it aint happening, and i still have yet to here from a suzuki "higher up" that the lag was a "planned" thing. gotta lot of people who are 100% sure they are right telling me it was, last time i heard none of them were the R&D for this bike. im glad thought that someone is testing a new ecm also, maybe if in the end it does work and it come installed stock, and they fix the air filter, along with the tierods and reverse they have allready recalled then i can go out and get a King, until then im going to maybe get another vinson or a kawasaki. so ill keep checking this thread to see what happens with the testing and ill also keep my fingers crossed that it works.

zex129 not knocking the vinson or anything, but a guy that I deal with out of WA says that the vinson frame is weak in comparison to the KQ. He buys and sells wrecked four wheelers so he sees first hand the damage on these machines...
just a FYI

Suzuki themselves are never going to fully-remove the lag, it will have to be an aftermarket company to remove any liability from Suzuki. Like I said, ask this question in either the Highlifter or Nyroc Suzuki forums and they'll tell you the same thing. I guarantee the lag is 100% purposeful, as it is was the Kawasaki V-Twins. Believe what you want, but there's no way either of the "big 4" are going to release a machine that big, but with that weak of a low-end accidentally.

I agree toyeboy. The slower times with the new ecm in 2 x 4 were a result of spinning the tires too much, where I got the 9.3 they hooked up better. Its weird to start out with no spinning and then hit 4-5 mph and then really breaking loose. Im betting the times would have been quite a bit better with the new ecm on pavement as opposed to the old.

boat,
I understand its a utility not a racer but it takes a certain amount of fun out of the quad in my opinion. I am hoping the Yosh has a switch because I like the lag in real technical stuff but not 90% of the time.

Zex129,
Your probably entirely alone in your opinion on this thread...everyone I've talked to and heard from has said exactly what RG is telling you. Why would Suzuki want to fix something they purposely put in there for safety, so your really not any better off with Kawasaki either they do the same thing with their big bore quads. Also all the problems you've mentioned that are keeping you from buying the KQ haven't even been an issue for me..ecspecially the reverse issue.

KingMe,
You should do a test on a paved road because the spinning tires really took away a good time for the new ECM pretty much makes those result's inacurate. I'm expecting/hoping the ECM from Yoshimura ,if entirely unlimited, will gain about 4 quad lengths over stock in a 300ft drag, since that's what a guy on Nyroc's got when he changed the KQ to a carb, I don't know how many second's 4 quad lengths would be though.

Yeah I really hope they make a switch too, I let other people who aren't very experienced ride my KQ and I don't want them flipping over backwards so a switch would be great.

I THINK THE COPPERHEAD CDI FORM VDI SHOULD BE THE BEST FOR THE KING IF IT EVER COMES OUT.

No, it'll definitely be the Yoshimura. The VDI works wonders for the Kawasakis I'm sure, but this is a whole different animal. The Yoshimura will adjust not only timing, but fuel as well similiar to what you can do with a PowerCommander. Here's just hoping that right now they're making a seemingly endless multitude of "maps" for about any possible modification situation.
