I have a 2000 suzuki king quad and wanted to know, what would be tha best way to get more power. I have 24 acres and can ride on nearly 800 acres bebind my house. I live on a mountain and there are tons of huge hills. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanx

Well you can get the High Performance Kit from Highlifter or you can get the Power Kit from K&N outta the Dennis Kirk Magazine. The one from Higlifter comes with SuperTrapp Quiet series Exhaust,Dyno Jet kit, K&N filter and recharger filter kit, a prefilter, and a NGK spark plug. I was thinking about getting this for my King Quad but I just had to buy CV Boots for the front. Well hope I helped a bit....later

Mudking, don't attempt to do everything at once. SuperTrapp Exhaust, needs to be tuned which may take some time for trial and era. The Dyno Jet Kit is pretty straight forward. I don't have an air filter kit yet. Not sure about the reliability of the manufacturers. You might want to look at tires too. Have fun riding, it's a great little machine.

He has the 2000 model, different brake assembly. He should not have to work on brakes nearly as often as a guy would on the older models.

Archer, when I was sitting here thinking about writing something that would have substance, it came to me that someone posted here, 2000 KQ's don't have the front brake drums. Is that what you refer to? Thanks for helping me out of trouble. Don't like passing on bad info...

Actually there are two things.

1) The front brakes are hydraulic discs. So they will not trap mud and sand like old style drums usually do.

2) Starting in 2000 suzuki put a different drum on the rear of the machine. They were supposed to seal better and keep the sand/mud out. I put about 300 miles on my machine this year and when I pulled the drum apart their were no signs of uneven wear or grooving because of a foreign material.

Sorry guys, I got the last one, but my 310 kit kicks butt! This little Suz will do 50mph speedo!

I am contemplating bigger tires.

On the other hand, I may just sell it and buy another SP, or wait for the next biggest/baddest machine to come along.

If I sell it, a 48" Kimpex snow plow (new/never mounted) goes with at $3500.

That sounds good Archer. But tell me, when you took the rear drum off, was there any migration of water and dirt? Man! This '99 KQ rear drum gets mud in it even if the mud's ten feet away... I wonder if the new assembly will work on these older KQ's. My front drums aren't near as bad as the rear. But I'm forever cleaning and adjusting the rear brake. Seems every forty or fifty miles before adjustments. Bad feature. Thanks,

The new brake assembly has a little meter arm on it so you can see how much life is left on the shoe without having to take the drum apart. I did notice that dust would get into the openings for the arm but i never had gobs of mud or standing water in the assembly when I took it apart. I was really surprised. I don't ride in mud often but when i do i usually have to clean out the battery compartment too because mud squooshes in around the headlights and into the battery compartment. So far so good.
