Vinson 4x4 sensor trouble
#1
Hi Guys,
I have a 2003 Vinson 5-speed and love it. I am coming off of a highly modified raptor and couldn't be happier with the vinson. Anyway, I pretty much do all of my own repairs and maintenance and have the suzuki service manual for the vinson but could find nothing on this subject.
My 4x4 light (symbol on the dash) flashes on and off regardless of actual position. What i am trying to say is that even when it is in 2wd and is functioning as a 2wd the light is on at least 1/2 the time and comes on and off. I am wondering if i am alone in this or if anyone can help with where to look. Honestly, haven't spent much time on fixing this yet but it is a bother for me.
Please let me know if any of you can help.
thanx

Last week I first started reading different forums. I remember reading a long and very detailed thread of several others having dash display problems. Unfortunately, I don't remember if it was on this site or not. Good luck.

Had a simular problem with the temp light would come on and off when I knew the motor was not overheating, changed sensor and problem solved. There are two sensors on the front diff one for 2wd is srewed in horizonal and one for4wd is screwed in vertical. I would try the 4wd sensor, the temp sensor was only 20 bucks or so, not to much to keep a annoying light off. Xtremepowersports/suzuki is web page that show exploded views to help find the sensors. Hope this helps.

kybigdad,
thanks for the help, that makes sense. I haven't ridden the vinson for probably 4 or 5 weeks I went out today and checked it and it is turning on and off. This is of course sitting in the garage without the engine even running. I was thinking maybe it got wet, we had been doing a lot of riding in a (mostly) dry river bed. I am thinking that possibly now it has had time to dry out. Probably wishful thinking. Thanks for the help I will take the sensor out and see what they look like.
