Has anyone put Maxxis Bighorn tires on their King Quad?
#1
I want to put new tires on my King Quad. I like the look of the Maxxis Bighorn 6 ply tires. Has anyone put them on their new King Quad? In comparison to the original tires how do they steer, does it still ride as well? Do they throw a lot more mud up on the bike.
Thanks

I have them on a BF750 and they are very good tires. Excellent traction, very tough and because they are radials they give a smoother ride then the factory banana peels that came on the quad.

I would agree with curls. They ride really nice on the K.Q. I have not run into much mud with them on so I cant comment on the mud thing. They steer great, track nicely and seem like they will last forever.

Mine are on a Vinson rather than a KQ but I can tell you that they handle mud just fine. I have had the bike in some real goop and they pulled me right out. I am planning on putting them on my KQ when I buy one this spring. I don't think you can go wrong with them.

Kingme,
I noticed in your pics that you have the mudlites & the bighorns. For light mud trails, dry creek beds, some creeks with about a foot or two of water, some dirt packed hill climbs, small to medium rocks, crossing over ruts, tree limbs, roots......"normal" trail riding (I guess normal for the midwest), which tire of those 2 do you like better for a variety of conditions?
2. Which of those 2 rides the best on hard packed trails (some pavement)?
3. Riding in the above mentioned areas (not pavement), which lasts longer?

I've ridden in snow only once so far. It was not overly deep but they handled great. I ride with a guy with Mudlites and he is impressed enough with the BHs that he is planning on getting them the next go round. I will ride more this winter with them and will be better able to answer the snow question then but my initial response is that they work great in snow.

Stocks,
Im hoping to be able to answer your question better in the next couple weeks. I have not had the bighorns in any sloppy conditions yet. I can tell you the mudlites did great in those conditions and I think the Bighorns will do well also. But I should be able to confirm this since we got some snow today. All of my rides with the bighorns so far have been in desert conditions.
As far as which ones ride better on hardpack goes, Bighorns hands down.
And which ones will last longer, Bighorns hands down.
If the Bighorns do as well as my mudlites did in the slop and snow this winter they may be the perfect tire for me.

kingme,
great to hear! sounds like if the bighorns do well in the slop (and snow) that they are the tire for me since you think they handle better on hard pack and that they def last longer!
cause they cost just about the same, right?
