Question and Parts for 87 LT 230 Quardsport
#1
Hello, I am new to the forums. I recently aquired an LT 230 Quardsport. The machine runs pretty decent. All it needed was a tie rod end. I was wondering why this machine did not have a pull start to go along with the kickstart. Do you need to jump start this machine if the kickstart fails? Are these machines known for fouling plugs? It currently has a NKG plug in it. This machine came with a DG exhaust. It is a little louder than I would like and I am in search of a stock pipe hoping to quiet the motor. I would be willing to trade the DG pipe for a stock pipe if anyone is interested. I plan to use the machine for hunting purposes and not racing. It is possible to put an electric start on this machine? Would it be worth the expense if even possible? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Hey I will trade you my stock pipe and muffler for the DG muffler and pipe, email me mcrhea2@alltel.net if you are interested.
The machines that had the recoil back up were the LT230E, they had electric start with the recoil back up. I've never heard of a kick start failing, if it did it would have to break a gear inside the motor and you wouldn't want it to start anyway. You could always pull/roll start it as well.
I've seen quadsports retrofitted with electric start before, but because these machines are so old I highly doubt the parts are out there new anymore. You're other choice would be to get an LT230E engine w/ the electric start on it, but cost may be prohibitive.
