z 400 purchase
#11
I saw some of the guys said you should wait for the 450. Like you I can't afford new but also the new 450 will not have reverse which is something I won't live without for trail riding. My KFX 400 still performs admirably on the MX track and in tight woods I can keep up with the Yamaha and Honda 450s because they don't have the room to put the extra CCs to work. I won't get into the, "what is fastest," arguments but I do think the Z/KFX400 are still a great all around four wheeler. If I were looking for a strictly MX machine I'd look at one of the others.

What the hell ? I got 3 replie notices for this topic. One from ABXtreme @ 10:31, and two from calinthematrix. First one at 5:55pm and second one at 5:57pm but they don't show up. Maybe a mod erased them, but with this new (to me) firefox browser, sometimes I can't access sites or things don't show up.

If you go with an 05, you better check the clutch cover. They used magnesium to try and lighten the quad a bit and they are failing. Go to z 400 central dot com (sorry to spell it out it's a forbitten website here) and look under the maintenace sections for pics and discussion. Also some people have had problems with a weak frame on the 03 so check that out as well before you buy. We have an 03 that my wife rides and we love it. No problems, great bike!
