Default LT250r shift lever

My frined has an 89 LT250r and his shift lever broke. He called the dealer and was told there isn't an aftermarket one made, but I would think that there is one out there that fits it. Any suggestions ?

If it is just the lever, they are still available from Suzuki for about $25.00.

Default LT250r shift lever

I found that they tend to strip out a lot. I took a Banshee (I believe it was a Banshee.) shifter, which is a lot longer and steel, put it on, then noted how much I wanted to shorten it. I then cut it in two places, and rewelded it. I now have a longer shifter which is perfect for me wearinf work boots. I love it. Much better shifter feel. My shifter shaft was also a little stripped, so having a steel shifter now I also tacked it on in a spot. Not that it definetely needed it, but just a little assurance.
