If this has happened to this many machines then Suzuki will be coming out with a recall before too long. The way I see it is that even if they don't put a recall out then it should be covered under warranty, right? I didn't do anything to make this happen so it couldn't be considered rider abuse. I know the people at the dealership pretty well and I feel they would have told me if there was something wrong with them. I was told that Suzuki has been using these magnesium covers on their race bikes for a long time, so why would this just start happening now?

thetank, I'm not understanding what it is that your trying to say......? Are you saying that your just going to ride it till it fails because you have a warranty and suzuki(you think) will take care of you? If you KNOW the problem exists, why not fix it before it causes failure?

i have a extended warranty and was gonna do the same thing.....then i figured if it bust in june then my whole summer is blown, so why not fix it now. Plus i would hat to pull into the badlands and have it die 5 minutes into it.

I pulled mine off and there is very little corroding. The impeller does not come off when you undo the 4 bolts. I just turned the case to the right and tried to pull slightly. When I discovered the cover would not come off I just bolted it back up with no problems. Am I ok?? I will now flush and fill with evans waterless coolant.

Should be ok. I would do a complete flush also as you stated you will do. As far as the evans goes I am not 100% sure that will last forever if you know what I mean. You may want to check with Evans to find out how long it is good for before it needs to be changed.

Just looked at my 05 and it is corroded. I will post pics soon.

If you have an 05 or 06 in the Z400 family you had better look into this! Your warranty will be up before there is a catastrophic failure in all likeliehood!

For now I am going to remove the corrosion and refill with Evans. I will wait a couple of months to see how Suzuki will respond.

How much coolant does a z400 hold? I was looking at that Evans stuff and it is like $27.99 a gallon. I am guessing around 2 gallons of coolant. That is alot to have to change it every 6 months. I talked to the local parts store in my town and they have never heard of the stuff.

Can someone possibly add information to the title of this thread? I had skipped over this for weeks. I thought "z400 corroding" meant the frame was rusting or something similar. A google search is what got me to look.

you shouldn't have to change the evans every six monthes. It states it's a liftime coolant.
