people were on here before saying this is what would stop it from corroding but the coolant would need to be changed every 6 months.

I understood the change every six monthes if you used something other than the evans.

are you going to change the water pump cover or the clutch cover? ive heard alot of people up north are having these prob. but havent seen anybody post that lives in the south. it could be a weather thing causing it to corrode faster. the people with the corrosion, have you ever changed your fluid or add any tap water to you quad before you noticed this prob.??

This pisses me off, I purchased an 05 about three weeks ago, and went to check the oil today and it seemed to be to over filled and the coolant seeems to be a little low. Bet know what the problem might be. I only have about ten hours on the quad.

If the coolant is in the oil then it will be milky. It could just be that the put a little extra oil in it or somting. I have noticed that if i leave mine running for a little and check the oil right away it will be different than if I let it sit for a little while.

I took my z400 in to the dealer today to have them check it out. I watched them drain the oil out and it appeared okay. They said that they have not seen any problems like this. They contacted their service rep, and was told that the problem happens only with a different coolant. non suzuki.

I'm lucky I got on here and read this. Me and a couple buddies all bought the 05 model and luckily haven't been riding much and haven't had time to do any mods yet. I'm callign my Suzuki dealer in the morning. I hope Suzuki sacs up and takes care fo this problem. If not, I'll just have to replace it this weekend with an 04 aluminum cover, which would suck.

Guys don't be fooled.

I bought my machine in May 05 right outta the box, checked it last weekend and it was jacked. I never touched the "factory" coolant.

I took everything apart and cleaned it. I have an '03 cover on the way and I just going to be done with this issue.

BTW- you cant get the water pump off unless you remove the whole clutch plate. The water pump shaft has a snap ring holding a larger "gear" on the other side of the clutch plate.
