Question on brake fluid
#2
My owners manual says to use DOT 4, and nothing else.
I don't remember what a car uses. It may be different, primarily because an atv may heat up the fluid to a higher temperature than a car does--therefore requiring a fluid that will stand up to the higher temps.

i run dot 5 in my lt230s. it's silicone brake fluid, does not absorb moisture or damage paint like dot 3 or 4. and it has a higher boiling point as well. i just bleed the whole system untill all the old brake fluid was out. i did this about 9 or 10 months ago and have had no trouble. you can use dot 5 in any brake system, but if it's dot 5 to begin with you have to use dot 5. just my two cents.
