I have an 05 Eiger as well. I ran into the same problem. The spark arrestor isn't welded in. I had one heck of a time pulling it out. I thought that I was doing something wrong, but I wasn't. All of the sudden, it just broke loose and came out. Just make sure that you pull the screw out first, or you wont get anywhere. I also sprayed it with some penetrating oil to loosen it up.

i used the Crude but effective vise grips...then hit them with a hammer...then it finally came...i sounds good without the sparky in there...kind of like a mellowed down HMF

If you take the screen off the spark arrester do you need to rejet for this?

I cut the screen from my spark arrestor and did not notice a difference before I installed a jet kit. However my eiger was running lean to begin with. May not be an issue depending on the elevation you ride.

Have you checked the plug color? That will tell you if it is running lean, rich, etc.Spark plug coloration
