hello can someone please tells me how the kickstarter gears line up inside the clch cover so they mesh.... thaks in advance

its an 87 i like it but i dont no if it worth restoring and supin up

 

what kinda shape is it in?? like is it beat to **** or?

 

its not bad but the plastic is all cracked and it blows smoke. the axle is bent alittle plus its old

 

well it might be a good restoration project you can get alot of parts for those bikes

The qs still has a lot potential. Parts are easy to come by and buy since the demand is low. And the engine is a simple design that you can squeeze good power/tourq from.
The engine is nothing if not bottom heavy on torq. Does the phrase "nose light" ring a bell?
There are index marks on the kick lever, start shaft and kickstart gear. be shure they all line up.
When you put the cover back on be shure the kick lever ( all maks aligning ) is in its normal up or disingauged position. Before you torq every thing down check to be shure the kick lever locks at the point where it will stay and allow you to get your foot on it.

Torq everythig down and fire it up. If you hear a grinding noise with the lever all the way back in its disingauged position, the #2 gear is still tring to mesh.

What is your email, I have some pages that I scanned and sent to another guy. I can send them to you if you would like them, it tells you how to put it together and also has the diagram.

Make sure you get the smoking checked out, ours was smoking and then it blew up.

 

There is a single punch mark on the gear but not anywhere on the kickstarter. Can someone please help me?
