Might be a slight difference in sound... steel is denser = quieter. But I guess it depends on how much steel or aluminum they use.

Just trying to figure out if the xtra 20 is worth it or not. I'm a college kid with minimal work hours xtra money is hard to come by and gas prices doen't help!

the aluminum can oxidize and doesn't agree with heat too well

i got it that way. it was extended in front of the shock mount, just about the same place you did yours. i'll post a pic of it in a sec.
