Never mind i just figured out where the oscillation came into play haha should have read it more clearly (atleast thats what my teach always tells me to do) Yeah your cathode will go to ground and the led will turn on for the +v oscillation (+ half wave) and will be turned off for the (- half wave) which is where you get your half rectification. and if you stick the led in the other way cathode to ur positive than ur led will just be turned off for the + half wave so it just flip flops

Isn't ground considered lower potential than, say, -12 volts ac?

Ground is just a referance it can be any potential you want to have it set for. Most of the time ground is 0 volts.

so a led is bascially an electron oneway valve. Electrons can flow oneway, but not the other.

Agreed im so lost. I also have a dodge 1500...LOVE IT. when we got snow this winter i plow so when ever a truck got stuck i got myne and pulled them out. the only problem i ever has was the injectors

A tad off topic but my major started with 30 students we are down to 9 the rest failed out

weve got a ram too but its the holy grail 2500 12 valve. love that truck.
