No clue about carb jetting, sorry.

I managed to weld up the crack in the frame of my 230 build project. Hadn't run my gas rig in years, but still have enough of the touch to put a bead down. lol

Tried like hell to hammer in a new steering bushing, but it only went in half way. I'll try squeezing it in with a beefy bolt and washers.

The frame is getting some rattle can gloss black, too. Just to cover up all the nicks, scrapes, and rusty spots- nothing perfect. Lord knows the rest of the quad won't be perfect, but at least it'll look a tiny bit better.

With the fix on the frame done, I'm sort of 'over the hump' now and things will start going back together. I still have to cut and weld a fix on my bent steering shaft and then tear into the motor, but the rest of the parts should just be bolt on.

I found two 1986's a couple hours away on CraigsList for $600 for the pair plus an extra motor. I'm tempted. Trying to get a buddy to go 50/50 on them with me. I guess I've got the 230 bug.

Your not the only one with a 230 bug I just got mine running this week end and am already starting another one for my wife. picked it up for two hundred bucks and it doesnt need a hole lot to get it running. I'm taking it done to bare frame and having it poader coated because of all the rust spots. It will be a winter project. You just cant beat these 230's they last forever and run good.

Any ways like I said got mine running finally but im worried it is running to hot does any one know what normal temp is for these and if I am running hot what would cause it to do so

dunno about running hot. Maybe you have a vacuum leak? or you're running lean, somehow?

Good luck with the wifey's 230! Think she'll be able to kick it?

When I get mine running I hope to heck it starts easier than when I got it. Holy Hell it wore me out.
Had to nearly jump on it from a ladder. lol

Thats funny, Ya mine was the same way when I got it but its alot easier now. I put in new rings, and re-seated the valves. I havent even had to hit the lever to release the compression yet don't know what exactly I did but it worked out good when it comes to starting.

Should i pick up a 25 pilot or 30, and im thinking something bigger for the main that im using now. I basically need something just to start and i can tune it in from there. Im not new to this stuff. Just want a baseline to start off from so i don't risk a lean condition on my beast. lol

Any help or a point in the right direction would be great.
Tm-28 tunning on qs. Dg muffler K&N filter stock air box stock air pipping to carb Bone stock engine 86 no bore no nothing
AFter tinkering for a few days tried thh 15 pilot 17.5 pilot 20 Pilot works the best dark brown very light black plug.
STock needle that came with it made it bog mid throttle range. Put in a 5L1 needle. Middle clip position.
Started with a 300 main the biggest i could find in my possesion. Down to a 280 right now. Still a little rich doesn't break up or buck and has really snappy part throttle to wot transistion seems the power comes on just a hair higher in the rpms. Still *** loads of low end grunt.
I need to go grab few more mains thinking it will be right around 265-275 main jet .
