My little trick is use a paint can opener to remove the seal.

Yes.they had a clutch and reverse. They are some nice trail quads. Gear it right and it will fly.

This is the piston from the 87 parts quad. Has a little bit of a bend on the bottom of the skirt on one side. Its the exhaust side. Just wondering if I should use it or replace it??

A $90 question could turn into a few hundred $ answer. For peace of mind I would replace.

If it's an 89 then it would be a quadrunner which would not have a clutch. $400 on top of your trade value sounds a little steep for a bike that needs some work.

88 was the last year. They had a 89 and 90 that everyone thinks is a 230, but its a 250. If that's the case, you really want that quad! Its rare and 10x nicer than the 230.

I've never seen an oil leak thru the seal, but I've seen lots of cracked cases. There's my opinion.

On the piston, just use calipers to measure it. If it measures right, you could use it. I've trimmed that part off anyway when making pistons lighter.

Check out some cosworth pistons on google images.
