Riding this one is like doing a 30min chin-up. Kills my arms! I think it gains 1500 ft in elevation

Flipping the stock wheels would make it wider, wouldn't it? I was talking about using high offset wheels to make it less wide, but still be able to keep your long a-arms.

Those are cool trails. My trails are no where near as bumpy (or as technical) as those trails are.

Oh, well I would just hack off some of what I welded on. I'm just too unmotivated to do it. I'd have to reset all the suspension and everything. Maybe one day. But first I need to finish my engine. If it doesn't blow up, then I might be more motivated on other things.

What sleeve are you referring to here?

I called four stroke tech and kustom kraft today, and they both said they had nothing that would work with the 250s engine?

What is the factory bore for the 250s?

About the trails, that's why I have big front tires and a low back end. When I first got the quad, I was scared shitless smacking into those rocks fearing I would endo. Now I just blast thru everything and only slow down for deep puddles. I'm in 4th gear out of every turn and looking for 6th n 7th on the straights.

Those little jumps they put in for erosion control... that's where i want an extra 5hp. Currently, I have to slow down and downshift a gear so I have enough power to "fling" myself over the jump. If I stayed in the top gear, I'd land on the front wheels. No fun at 50mph with a cliff 5 ft away.

All the big bore kits for the 250S are probably used up. Wiseco isn't making the pistons anymore and the only ones left are the 230 kits (with 16mm pin).

You have to call la sleeve and ask about a sleeve. Kustom kraft wont know anything.

You'd be using KZ1000 pistons. 1979.

I have written down LA-56Z and L-56Z. Those are LA Sleeve part numbers, but I'm not sure about them. I was just looking through the catalog one day and figured those might be close for a 73mm bore. You'd have to call and ask to be sure.

I have the engine assembled at the moment, but the spacer I made for the base gasket is 3.050 in diameter. Which tells me the sleeve can't be bigger than that. So that means it would have to be LA-56Z, which has a outside diameter of 3.022, is 4.730 inches long, and had a bore of 72mm... which is now bored to 73mm. Sounds like it may have been the sleeve for the 72mm big bore kit. That's hard to believe with the amount of metal I had to grind off the cases.

Go ahead and get it finished, you're missing out on prime riding time!

How much power are you expecting out of it? You're boring yours out to a 280 right?

Have you looked at the lt-z250 specs at all? There was a user here that was using 230 parts to upgrade his engine. That engine has a 72mm stroke, so you could potentially get it up to 300cc with that 73mm piston. It's a shaft drive so that doesn't do us any good unless the crank will fit in our engine.
