It was fun for me anyway, lol.

I got my 14 tooth sprocket today. Now on to the task of making a case saver that will fit around that monster sprocket! I can't find a 37 tooth rear in anything other than aluminum for less than $80. Not paying $80 for an experimental gear change! Not paying $50 for an aluminum sprocket either... I dont care how good the aluminum is... Its still aluminum!

A 14/39 will give a speed of 62.1 at 9000 with 20 inch tires.
a 13/39 with 22's is 63.4.
So, I'll be just a touch slower with this combo than I was with the 22's

FYI, its 57.7 mph for 13/39 with 20's and that's just too slow. I shouldn't be revving 5th out in 350 or so feet.
14/41 is 59.1 mph.... I dont think I have enough chain to try that one.

13/37 is what I really wanted. That would put me at 60.8.

It Fits!!!! Nicely too!

The case saver just barely doesn't touch the chain,,, nice tight fit. Still looks thick enough to take a couple whacks with the chain.

Well I finally got a new rocker box, B12'd the **** out of all the oil holes. I used a dime, jb weld and socket extension to press in a homemade freeze plug in the new valve cover I got to block off the decompression start. Where most of the leaks originate from. - Plus I believe it was reccomended to be removed for the new cam. So tonight I go at the RTV again... whats the general reccomendation for rtv? Just the bare minimum should be used?

Does anyone run 20w-50 or is it all 10w-40? I've been using valvoline atv 10w-40 but don't think the rings are in top shape.. would valvoline "motorcycle" 20w-50 work the same as the "atv" oil?

Bare minimum rtv!

20w-50 is too thick. Don't use it. Maybe even use 10w-30 in the cold. 20w-50 is for old engines with worn out main bearings and low oil pressure.

20w-50 wont help the rings and its too thick to get in the cam bearings.

I'm worried that if I take the cylinder off my piston, I will have to rehone and replace the rings so they will have something to seat against. If I wasn't worried about that, I would take it apart tonight and mill the head and deck the piston. You need a good hone to seat rings.

Here's my latest mod: Decompression block off.. This is like redneck rampage on the 230!

Parts used:
Jb weld
a dime
a socket extension and small hammer sized sledge hammer.

Used the ratchet side of the socket extension and slammed the dime in there, then jbwelded the corners. No more leaky decompression release!

and.. thats how much rtv i used, i painted a paper thin layer of rtv on it with q tips (top for the rtv is gone)

The dime looks good! It should hold.

You didnt let the rtv dry before bolting it together did you? It wont seal. You have to be very fast putting everything together. When you said q-tip, it sounded slow.

It was 17 degrees outside, that buys me enough time to paste it on with a q-tip..
