Default 85 to 88 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport help.

I bought a lakota today, $350. While I was there I got to talking to the guy about 230's and he said he had one. I asked how much he wanted for it n he said $500. It has a new piston, but the chain came off n smashed the mag cover, yada yada, you know the routine.... So, he bought a new cover and put the coils in it and never could get it running again. So, he parked it in the shed. Its an '87 and appears to all be there. The plastic is crappy looking, but no cracks. The seat looks like most do, big rips, blue, n says suzuki on the side. I could probably have it running after only one night in the shop. You guys think $500 is a screaming deal? Or should I work on him about the price? I'm not sure if I could get my money back parting it out on ebay or not. I might get $500, but doubt much profit.... Especially after handing ebay a can of vaseline and bending over for them. I paid 400 for mine... ended up needing new rockers, cam, piston, and bore. and of course the not important stuff like a rear brake stay and caliper.

****** THAT BAD BOY UP!!!! Offer him $400 dollars cash and see how much he bulks or not. When I bought mine in August the guy I was dealing with said it was his teenagers quad, and he was asking $800. I told him I would give him $500 cash and take it off his hands on the spot, he said he had to call his son since it was technically his, but alas the kid wasn't answering his cell so he said let me ask his mom and see what she says. He came out a minute later and said ok deal.

Has anyone tried dial a jet? If so, how was the installation? does it work right? I want to buy a k&n air filter for my 230 (i have uni now) and i also have my air box lid drilled out but i might fill those in if i get the k&n. I just don't want to go through the hassle of taking the carb apart over and over again to get the right jetting. I know next to nothing about the fine tuning ideas of jets. I think this would be good for me but im not too sure. I think it might be a hassle itself and i have been leaning towards no. If anyone could help me out, i would appreciate it.

Also im looking for somewhere to get lt250r front wheel spacers (around 1.5") for a pretty good price.

Thanks in advance

Also, a new pipe may be in my future so that's why, theoretically, I would think dial a jet sounds right for me.

I think he is kinda firm on $500 especially since I got all excited when I heard he had one, lol. I "might" be able to get him down a little, but I'm not counting on it. I ran the deal by a buddy and he said its kinda hard to give $500 for a 230 when you can get a warrior for $800. I guess he saw one in the paper today.... Now I'm kinda curious about that deal. I'll see what I can do, but I think I would give $500 for it anyway. My friend's son can ride it. (the friend that has the 250).

PoolGod used to highly recommend the dial a jet. I was thinking of using it too for a while, but determination to figure this carb out the old fashioned way got the better of me.

Mikem92, damn kid, you post ALL over the place!!

Paticence!!! ya i spelled it wrong... Yellow plastics are killer, Big bore, do what yer machinist says, (cop out on my part, don't know what they did, just trusted them)260 or 273, sounded like more work went into my 273 than my 260, whats 13cc anyway???? Dial a jet, worth every penny, as long as yer carb was close to begin with. Yes, I understand. JEEZE, I wish I could tell u what it was they did to my crank and bottom end. I am a mechanical tard.
Been fakin and learning since I joined 2/1/2007, and was a voyer for probably 6 months before that...

I have had a rolling chassis sitting for God knows how many months, a 260 motor that I mess with about 15minutes a day, that is almost ready to go back into said chassis..But if and when it gets back in, I have to deal with a tm28 and all its jetting issues, hopefully running rich, so I can at least get the damn engine broke in............. Welcome to he!! lil buddy!!!
