Photobucket finally got their site up again. The middle piston is the wiseco lakota. The one on the right is my 67.5mm 230 wiseco piston. On the left is the 66mm stock 250 4wd piston.

My apparatus to find the deck height. Apparently, wiseco already decked their pistons. At least mine is decked. .002 in front and .010 in back. Good enough.
So, I need a piece of aluminum .140 thick to make a spacer plate out of. The base gaskets are .020. Add them up for .160 or 4mm. I'm going to Lowes tomorrow, I'll see what kind of aluminum sheets they have.

Technically, its called zero decking the piston. It means the piston exactly level with the top of the jug (deck). And THAT means there is only the thickness of the gasket to keep the piston from smacking the head. I think .030 is a good gap to have, which is a popular size for head gaskets. As it turns out, the gasket I have is .030. The problem.... the 230 head doesn't have much flat surface to work with to get good quench. So, I'll have to mill on the head some to get a decent flat part to match up with the piston. Read about quench here: http://www.theoldone.com/archive/quench-area.htm

Man, sorry you have to keep repeating your self for my benefit.
I am one of those people that speed reads a minimum of 6 books a week and retains zero, until someone else brings up the book. Then it all comes back in a flood! But its gone again, till the next time it is brought up. I am sure there is a name, with an abbbreviation, for what I have, and a billion drugs for it now. LOL! I started to print this thing awhile back...... A full ream of paper=15 or so forum pages! Think I used em to start a fire...
Pulled my engine out again, and popped the top. I'll bet it isn't a weisco piston. Your correct about them having mill marks. Looked at the 70mm (69 or whatever it is) looks like your polished one! The weiscos, 2 new one old, are just like you said, ready for tile. I'll have to call LA Sleeve this week to find out what they sent.
I can already hear the valley girl on the other end, "Totally, like the catalog says, like, we get the things from Weisco, Oh ma God, gag me with a spoon, its a gurl bike, why are you totally wasting my time?!"

So, the 260 kit piston looks like my polished one? Is it flat on top too, or domed? Did somebody polish it for you, or does it come that way from wiseco???
