I got a chance to check out my neighbors 230S that he has for parts, as I need a number of things for my shaft 230. I can't believe how much different these models are. It seems like the only things that are the same are the engine, transmission, and a few small things. The intake setup is way different, and it isn't possible to put the 230s's intake on my shaft drive because the exhaust routes on the left side and would hit the tube coming off the carb. I'm missing the airbox lid and intake box that sits up on the frame under the seat. I think the airbox lid is the same on both models, so I may be in luck there.

One thing I'm not looking forward to finding is a tierod. They are longer on the 230s than the 230GE, so I probably won't be able to find a good used one. Is there anyone in the thread selling parts I'm not aware of?

Also, where can I make suggestions for the site? I have a few things I could add, mostly for the shaft models if anyone is interested.

Do you know if a dealership would let me pay for that wheeler in like three installments, once a month w/o paying extra junk? I have enough cash, but it'd be nice to not dump it all right away.

I wonder how many people said "What's wrong with the TV?" tonight??
Depends on if you apply for credit thru the dealer's financer or work some sort of deal with the owner. If its credit, its credit. You gotta have an income and good credit score. Its probably easier to get credit there than a credit card since the in-house loan is secured by the quad itself (ie they can come get it). Don't dig yourself into a credit hole though.

I didn't think anybody really used an antenna anymore for tv.

No, I didn't see those. Wasn't really considering a canam... They're expensive and you said you didn't really like yours (that was you, right?).

Could you cut the tierods down?

Atvman is the man to talk to about the site.

Are the transmissions even the same? I thought the shaft drives had auto clutches?

Cut and weld. I needed to extend mine for the 250S arms, so we cut my 230 ones in half, then found a steel tube that the tie-rods fit inside of nicely, then welded it up. You could do the same thing, just take a section out, then sleeve it with the tube.

Oh toadson, were you talking about the Vault? We could do something for shaft drives. I couldn't really contribute anything, but if you have some material w/ pics and stuff, I'll throw it on there.

What do you guys think of the new title for the site link?

Well I'm hoping it can just be like a personal type of deal where I just send them my money in three chunks. I doubt they'll do it, but who knows, they're prolly pretty slow and would be willing to make a deal.

I've been browsing craigs, and the DVXs are running around 3300-3500, so it seems like quite a deal!

I was looking through my old man's Car and Driver last night, and they had a shootout between the new Prius, Insight, and of all things, a 1998 Chevy Metro 3 cyl. hatchback! The Metro returned the best gas mileage!

Good to see how far we've come!

Add the word 'info'. The LT230S Info Vault: For Everything 230S! Something to say its not a parts place or a site with just pics n stuff, but a place with info.

Yeah I guess you're right about the transmissions, I didn't even think about the obvious fact that one is a shaft and the other a chain. My neighbors 230s has an auto trans, so I guess some of them were autos and some had clutches. I don't know if I could cut the tie-rod down or not, but I could probably make something work if he were willing to sell them.

I thought I might be able to contribute some info to the Vault if you did want to include the shafties on there. I don't have any pics yet, and when I do the atv is pretty nasty looking, so it might not even be worthy to put on the site! Haha.
