The same friend with the 250s weighs about 250lbs and takes pride in being able to kick-start anything. Me n a couple other guys can kick ourselves into a coma and give up and then he sets his big fat *** down on the seat with one kick and it fires right up and belches out this big cloud of smoke. Its like the scares the hell outta the quad.... Scares it into submission because it doesn't want to be kicked again! .... oh and he never uses the decomp lever. I insist he use it on mine though because I don't want something to break inside the kicker. Between the immoveable object and the unstoppable force, something has to give and I don't want it to be my kicker. But I swear you could take the plug out and put it in your pocket and he'd still get it started.

speaking of compression... How hard are these things supposed to be to start? I weigh 195 and if i don't use the decompression lever i can stand on the kick starter without it moving</end quote></div>

I never had to use the decompression lever (didn't even know what it was) till the big bores.. Pre big bore I had a ton of compression, I forget the exact #'s but 200psi sounds about right.. Kicked over on first try with one easy kick, everytime..

With the big bores, 1st or 2nd kick with decompression lever.. I come from a racing back ground, the re is an art form to the kick start.. What I didn't learn from racing, I learned from kicking over my Pop's old v twins.. get it right the first time, or pay..</end quote></div>

Yup, those v-twins can fork you up!

Well, PG, I took a few trailer loads of dirt outta the pond area today. This is gonna be a LOOOOONNNNNGGGG process! I can see that already. I could cut the time in half if I had a 4x4 quad. I feel like a tractor-pull everytime I make a run to dump a load. Sometimes I don't make it and have to dump half in the trail. The bayou has the power, just no traction. But, one thing I noticed.... At the bottom of the hole I made was a large puddle of water. Underground water supply is what I'm thinking.

it is either a spring, or you hit the water table.... But considering the drought you have been in, hopefully a spring!

Did I mention you have to plan for the silt aculmination? Spelt wrong I know................

however deep you want it, dig atleast 3 feet more.. Around here the rule of thumb is 1ft for every 2.5-3years of silt build up. You can lessen the silt by putting different sized rock and gravel down to sand in the stream leading to the pond. It will help with the clarity of the pond, and it is easier to clear the stream of silt, than the pond.

I think, as a state, we're only 4 inches behind in rainfall this yr. Still have the 28 inches short from last yr though. But, I'd have to say I've never seen so much water as we have now.... In my area. The places I used to ride through and hold the brakes and "pretend" to get stuck, now I'm scared to even go there because I don't get 2 feet and have to grab the winch cable! Drought??? What drought???

You remember those pics I sent you??? Well, I was out walking one day and noticed the water flows TO the road and not FROM the road. In other words, there is water coming from nowhere on my land and going to the neighbor's land.

Sounds like a spring to me, maybe a seasonal spring, but constant water no less...
