I use 93 octane. With the 10.25 to 1 compression, it really needs the higher grade. I live out in the sticks myself. Two 5 gallon jugs do the trick.
You might consider an octane booster. One can will mix with 25 gallons or so of the cheap stuff. Pick it up at the parts place the next time your in town.

What brand name clutch did you install? Did you soak the fibers first? Do you use any oil additives? Did you replace the springs? Did you replace both fiber and steel units? Are the clutch spring bolts torqued correctly?

I know you said you installed it correctly, but asking a few things might make you remember something?

Fyi. The 250QS uses one more fiber and steel but the clutch cover will bolt right up to the 230. The basket and preassure plate are diffrent as well. Have you installed a used cover, basket or preasure plate of unknown orgin?

it was an ebc kit. i did not soak the fibers, did not replace the springs. i did adjust the cable down by the case and it no longer slips but when i run out of slack ill replace the clutch and do it 100% correct.

P.S. this kid i know has an 85 qs230 with a yoshimura exhaust. does anybody know where i can get one of these exhausts they give the bike so much more *****.

schirtzy... on your #6 pic, you wanna lift the bike so the back wheels are off the ground. then loosen that bolt and there is 1 identical to it under the caliper. with them loose, there are little indents maybe 1/4" deep in the middle of the carrier. I used a big allen wrench but anything that fits should work. you just stick it in there and pull backwards/push forwards depending on your chain. when your done, tighten the bolts with the tires off the ground and then you're done.
