Hey Guys,
Any suggestions on clutch replacement? I got all this HP from the rebuild and the clutch won't take it. Where, what brand, steels or fibers, both? And springs, std or heavy duty or shims.
Thanks</end quote></div>
I went thru this last fall.... There's not a whole lot of options for the 230 that I know of. My vote is just to get a cheap clutch set and the stiffest springs you can find and use the right oil.
I usually put the cheap wal-mart "pre-1988" 10w-40 in my bayou, but I recently found just a bit of slop in my rod bearing. So,,, I figured I'd try some thicker oil n see how it works out. I got some Castrol 20w-50. Now the clutch slips like its missing a disk!

Yes, can't remember... SF, SE, SG,,, whatever they say it should be. All I can remember right now is pre-1988. The newer oil has friction modifiers for emission reasons; hence, the energy start label.

Well I guess the search goes on. I am not looking to get that involved. The picture looks like the rezi is in the rear on the top end of the shock and you trimmed the upper frame tube that doubles as clean air intake.</end quote></div>
I have seen several w/the shock reservoir connected w/a flex tube. That would seem to be the way to go given stock space. I'll let you know if I run across one

Well, maybe I can breathe some life into this thread with some pics!
A Ford 9-inch axle shaft machined down:

That otta hold!

I'm already ahead of the game in making the s-arm longer.... Just add some length before I weld the new tube on. No cuttin required!

See the hammer mark? Somebody's had this out before! Also notice the rod bearing is recessed on one side and is sticking out on the other.

This is what I'd like mine to look like:

Here's a pic showing the .060 over wiseco (68.5mm) on the left and the big bore kit piston (70mm) on the right. Looks like the .060 over piston has more compression.

Wonder if I should carve valve reliefs????

Stock on the left, .060 over in middle, and big bore on right:

250 tranny on left, 230 on right.

There's about 10 projects going on this table.... I know its tough to tell.

The 250 is plum full of little changes and improvements over the 230. This pic illustrates yet another. Here we have the oil pump gears. The 250 has 8 smaller holes and the 230 6 big ones. I guess its to save weight or something. Otherwise, the gears are the same.
