Remember back when I said I can't wait till we get an electric motor in a quad? Well, KTM put one in a bike: http://blog.wired.com/cars/2008/10/ktm-builds-a-ra.html

It has about twice the power of the 230 and weighs less than half as much!

KTM Builds A Race-Ready Electric Motorcycle
By Chuck Squatriglia October 20, 2008 | 3:41:58 PM

Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM is developing an all-electric enduro that could be in showrooms within two years.

The competition-ready ride features a lithium-ion battery that provides 40 minutes of riding time "under race conditions" and can be charged in just one hour, according to Hell for Leather. KTM isn't saying much about the bike, but by following the all-electric path blazed by startups like Zero Motorcycles and Quantya, the company seemingly is betting batteries are the future of off-road riding.

KTM is keeping the specs under wraps but says the prototype Zero Emission Motorcycle produces 29.5 foot-pounds of torque. The battery and motor weigh 17 kilograms (about 37.5 pounds). That may seem heavy, but electric bikes don't need an exhaust system, fuel tank and other parts. No word on what the KTM EV weighs, but the all-electric Zero X we rode tipped the scales at a bantamweight 140 pounds and was good for 57 mph.

Off-road bikes lend themselves to electric power because they're typically ridden short distances, so range isn't that big an issue. Electric motors also provide gobs of torque, a big plus in motocross riding. And as Hell for Leather notes, going green doesn't just help the environment, it could preserve or even expand off-roaders' access to land.

Hello everyone. Can't believe this LT230 thread is still going. I haven't posted in this thread in a long, long time. I'm a big fan of the LT230s and used to answer all kinds of questions on them, but I haven't been around much in the last year or so. Anyway, wanted to point everyone to a new thread I just created on this site with pictures of my mint quadzillas. I think a lot of you guys will appreciate them. (Sorry to post off topic.)

This thread is dead. New guys won't post because its too big and the old guys got bored, busy, or just moved on to bigger and better things, like yourself. When the economy picks up, it might come back to life.

Speaking of "dead", when I was in Alaska we were carrying .44 mags cause none of us wanted to
deal with shipping our own hand guns up there and cause that is what my friends' parents had to loan us up there.
I was the only one that had a .44 to ship anyway...

First day fishing on the rivers, we developed firearm envy! All the locals had these cannons strapped to their chests and hips? All six of us had .44 magnums with 6 to 8in barrels, and the side arms the locals were packin made our magnums look like.22 target pistols!

WOW!! S & W 500's!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got to shoot the 8n and 10in(with supressor)Freaking fun!!! The Alaska folk said the .44 mag would take all 6 rounds to "hopefully" drop a charging grizzly.. 1-2 rounds from the 500 to do the same!

Just brought home MY S & W 500 with the 8in barrel! Had to have it because Alaska trip is going to happen atleast 1 trip a year wether I can afford it or not. 2 because you never know if you'll be banned from having it, so it is worth having because your gov't is afraid that you have it! Now all I have to do is get a 2nd on my home to buy ammo!!!

I haven't messed with my 230 in awhile, so I figured I'd type something...............

16th ammendment is BS, 2nd rules! Demos own the White House, the senate and the house.... What ever they want should fly through with zero issue! Yeah right!

Presidents are just visitors in politics, its those a@@holes in the house and senate that are in charge for life!!!

Leaving my soapbox now...

Hey guys, ok so I'm sure this has been answered a hundred times on here but I don't have quite the time to sift though over 200 pages and my search didn't reveal anything.

I'm looking to get exhaust eventually for my '86 230S. I want inexpensive and I don't need chrome. This leaves me with the DG RCM steel and the Cobra megaphone. Their prices are $165 and $109 repectively and both come with the head pipe but no spark arrestor which i will need.

Which do you guys like for the money? It will take a fair amount of convincing and evidence to spend the extra 55.

Also, I have a stock carb so which jet kit do I get? Which jet works best with which pipe? What performance will I get with the combo?

And finally for my spark arrestor, do I buy one, (only the cobra pipe has one that fits, that I can find) or do I just make one and stick it in there?

Thanks for your help everyone. Keep in mind that I am on a tight budget. Also I prefer to order stuff from DK since I'm in MN and it takes one day to get to my house.
