Well, my 250S shocks arrived and they seem to be in good shape! Now I just need some a-arms.
For painting the shocks (they need paint BAD), I compress just the spring and then does that C plate on top slide off to release the mechanism?
Anyone have tricks for compressing the spring? I was trying to think of a way to use a rachet strap and I have a few ideas.
If I can't find a-arms soon (for a reasonable price), I think I might try to make some when I have some time and I'm up at work.

Yeah, it should be obvious how to get it apart once you get the spring compressed. I used to use a lot of visegrips, but that was kinda dangerous when the vise grips sometimes explode off the spring. So, I made a spring compresser from a bunch of metal and long bolts.
My experience with ratchet straps is they don't have the power to squish the spring, but if you use the visegrips to get the spring squished, the strap will usually hold it so you can get another grip with the vise grips.

lol, yeah, I usually get snapped or hurt in someway using vise grips anyways! That would be a pretty easy jig to make though with the bolts idea. might try that.

I wouldn't say easy, but it works. The problem is the spring is spring-shaped, lol. If the coils were flat, then it would be easy.
I'd like to make a jig that attached to my bench vise somehow. But hopefully I won't have to take too many more shocks apart.

How much compression do they need to release that clip? Like an inch?
btw for anyone interested, Rocky Mountain has EVS Revo 4 and 5 under or over jersey chest protectors for $29 and $32 down from the seventies-eighties.
I just ordered one up for myself.

cool, thanks.
Man, I'm not usually one to complain about the cold but I'm actually starting to get sick of it this year! Maybe its cause I'm anxious to ride the new wheeler or maybe its because its been seb zero or close to zero for the last three weeks or so, but whatever it is, I'm ready for it to warm up a bit!

What I hate about the cold is having to bundle up so much. What I like about it is the air is clean and crisp. Its 52 here.... so far. Warm enough for all the trails to be muddy and sloppy, but still too cold to ride without a couple layers.

Its 3 here, just a little too cold to ride. My face hurts after walking 4 blocks to school. Oh well, come summer, I'll be wishing it was cold again, haha.
