atvman, i think once you get past 112.5, the sizes are 115, 120, etc.
jets are cheap. boring out a main jet is really splitting hairs.
get a handful of jets and find one that works. unless your planning on building on lots of motors, i think you're wasting your time and money.
just my 2 cents.

hey everybody, i just got back from riding up at my friends place, and i got a question:

my friend brought a 95 300ex bored .80 over with an fmf pipe and open airbox lid, along with some nasty realtor tires (basically gnarly paddles for dirt). we dragraced and i waxed him like there was no tomorrow. now, this kids way lighter than me, and hes been riding longer than me. PLUS, his bike is 9 years newer with a 4 valve head.

he said hae was suprised with my bike and we raced a bunch of times with the same result. does this sound right? i mean, yeah it is a HONDA, but with all jokes aside, maybe these bikes are closer to one another than we think?

Around here jets cost about $5 at least, plus a trip across town to 3 dealers hunting the specific one I need, and I have to deal with the idiots in the parts departments who are probably just as likely to show me something from boeing as they would from mikuni.

Don't sound right to me. I think the 300ex and the old 250x are about the same thing. A 250x with a fmf should waste a quadsport. He must have been affraid to rev it out or something. Maybe its tuned wrong.

geez Randy, a coupla jets isn't all that expensive. tune it with the needle jet clip and air screw.

I don't know, but I can tell ya this.... I have a 250ex and its all bottomend. I can rev it out, but there's little point in it. The power falls off fast once the revs start climbing. If the 300ex is anything like the 250ex, it would need a cam to hold a candle to the quadsport.

My quadsport will outrun a stock warrior. Not one with a fmf and a kn filter though.

What kind of jet selection will a dealer usually have?

No, 10 bucks isn't expensive, if that's all it is.
