This summer has been nuts. I start my day out with 2-1/2 hours of Calculus 4, then I go straight to work for 4 hours, then off to Calculus 3 for 3-1/2 hours. Come back, do homework, then try to find some time for my online class.

Needless to say, the wheeler has been run maybe twice this summer.

picked up an 86LT230 a few days ago. Got it tuned up and running strong. I went on a test ride to verify tuning was good, though I have all stuff for chain and bearings ordered as there was a previous CCOS... bad idea, the chain popped 10 seconds prior to shutting down. I now have a brand new magneto cover from suzuki on order.

I am unable to find a case saver for this quad anymore. Would there be a source I'm not finding by searching the net?

Bike Bandit has one. It only work on a 12-tooth or smaller front sprocket though. 12-tooth is the stock sprocket size.

#65...They're cheap, get a couple! BB is kind of a pain on shipping. Also, welcome and check out the Vault in my signature!

Welp.. I ordered a 13 as I thought that was stock. I'll just have to grind it down a bit to fit how I want, nice and snug :-) Should work perfectly.

actually have already been on your site, quite a big help and inspiration.

now for question number 2, chain length and how to tighten properly. How many links should I be using (13/39, as I couldn't find the stock gearing for the life of me) and how do I go about tightening correctly?

do you have the old chain?? if so just go in to a dealer and say i need a new one of these lol the chain length should be 84 and size should be 520
here is a little guide to show a few diff things for lt230 and others
Suzuki ATV: Basic Technical Specs NGK spark plug and gap, Yuasa battery size.

to adjust.... id have to go outside and look .. cant remember off hand, and its 1:30 am and its raining out lol ... so ill tell you that tomorrow.

if its like my banshee though... there should be some adjusting screws on the back of the axle housing you will need to loosin them up .... pull the whole axle out (tword you) to tighten up the chain... although you dont want it to tight, you want some play in the chain. this is easier with 2 people.... then while you have the axle pulled tword you you retighten the bolts.... like i said.. not sure if the 230 is that way... ill have to go out and look tomorrow.
