my spelling is off sorry I meant I am looking for a stator? I have a guestion on boring out the head. I have not done this and I was wondering how big I should go. I am leaning towards a 67mm bore or as some say that would be twice over, which is a .040 overbore. I think I am right on that but some help on that would be good too. should I just go all out and bore it to 68mm or does that make the walls of the head dangerously thin? please help with some top end tips.

Welcome to the 230 quad sport forum. Its great to have a new face in here. Keeps the message alive you know. By the way, that ( as PG has already stated) is a very sharp ride. It reminds me of one ive seen on here before. I think it's Blue and white though

Im running on a 2mm over bore now, (for now) the 68mm is as far as you can go with the stock cylinder. I have had no problems with this set up. What you need to remember though is.......that's it.......when it comes time for a rebuild you have two choices. Either resleave it back to stock or pick up an overbore kit.
Hay P.G.,.. that would be a COOL project, a bone stock 230s resto, complete with stock muffler and drive train. Sounds like a project for the truly devoted/insane. Which ever fits the owner better
Ive always wanted an 85 model in my stable. Maybe one day I will start collecting pats to build my own. Maybe a 85,86,87 and a 88 to round out the collection............Hmmmm

WOW, I finally got a direct response from big mc himself the forum starter, I do feel honored. thanks for starting this 230 forum. I was unaware that you could use the same piston with a bore. I thought that I had to get a bore kit anyway. I was planning on buying the wiseco 67mm piston http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...me=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=010 and was wondering if I should just go right to 68mm.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem So you are saying that when I have the head rebored they are going to bore it bigger than 68m for the rings? I guess this rookie needs a bit more info unless I got that right.
I don't have pics on my computer yet or I would figure out how to post them now. I still have yet to get my camera and the 230 in the same area. sorry about that guys.

fish guy u have to buy a new piston and have ur jug bored to fit it aka take to a machine shop and have bored to fit ur new one,u should tear ur machine apart and see what u have! u might be able to get by with just a set of rings if everything is in good shape

this is my 2nd motor and it is completely tore down allready and the jug is in good shape. I just want to bore it for performance. I also allready have a local machine shop that will do the work I talked to him a bit ago. sorry i said head, I meant the jug. are you saying that I shouldn't do this for just power reasons? I took this motor apart because it seized, turned out to be the connecting rod bearing no broken parts or loose metal to deal with. I purchased a whole crankshaft and now I am just deciding what to do with the top end. the piston and rings are usable, I just don't want to.
after I get all that in order I am short the stator. speaking of I thank you greatly for the link poolgod, however I could not locate a stator on that site I only found lt250 stuff. I am just looking wrong maybe, I have two 1987 lt230s machines one just rebuilt the other is on her way to performance.
The motor I am running now has a wiseco, but it is std bore and all I did was hone the jug. it runs solid and thank something great for a simple valve job, no more smoke.I think that I am about fully broken in on that one now.

to be honest unless u go with 260 or bigger in cc aka big bore u wont really notice and difference. using the wiesco piston gives lil more compression compared to stock which gives a lil more bottom end torque.

I am SOOOO not the expert, But a stage 2 cam (maybe it was a stage 1 Don't remember now) a lil more agressive cam, brought my ole lady's 230 to a whole new level of performance, .20 over engine..
As far as the stator, the do have them, but I had to call for them to track it down.
