Default Z400 clutch

Its time for me to get a new clutch.

I was wondering if anyone had info for me. Anything you read about or have experience with.

450r fibers or a barnett clutch are my top choices right now.

I run a barnett in a hinson basket. Every guy that has ridden my bike loves the feel of it.

I've heard the 450r fibers are good though.

Most people will tell you to run the stock steels.

Personal choice..

Do you know the exact setup used for the 450r fibers? From what I read it is 450r fibers, stock Z steels, and kx500 springs.

I checked a local dealer today and this setup was ~$150. I can get a carbon fiber clutch for $120ish.

I was wondering what the difference was between the 450r and the Z steels? It would be cheaper and easier if I could order a complete clutch kit for a 450r.

I'm really not sure on any of your questions and I don't want to give you false info.

Let me ask around, I'll see if I can find out for you...

Okay, I found some info..

All 8 of the 450r fibers are all the same, unlike the Z which has one that is different.

You can use either KX500 springs or CR500 springs, doesn't really matter, although it will increase the clutch pull. The springs are slightly shorter, but thicker.

Also either 450r steels or your stock Z steels, doesn't matter either, both will fit. It's personal preference, try both and let us know what you think.

A side note, some people have had to clearance the case where the clutch lever is to get full engagement. Just be aware of this.

Im thinking of buying a barnet carbon fiber clutch kit for a 450r. It comes with h/d springs.
Do you know if the 450r springs will work in the Z clutch?

Are you sure the steels are the same? I couldnt find this info anywhere.

I know the clutch fibers are different, thats why I would like to go with the 450R clutch.

Thanks for the help.

I'm pretty sure the 450r springs don't fit. But if you are getting a barnett clutch, the fibers and steels will be the same as the barnett Z400 clutch. The Z400 Barnett clutch also comes with stiffer springs.

The steels aren't the "same" but they both fit.

This info is from a reliable source from another forum. I'll shoot you a pm.
