I suppose if you dig deep enough you'll find someone who's had some sort of problem with any quad but my research convinced me to buy my 05 auto. Personally, I love mine. Great price and functionality, lots of power (moved 14 inches of heavy wet snow effortlessly) and a very comfortable ride. As for the top speed, I don't know but many riders claim 50 and a couple indicated 55. I didn't buy mine for the speed but I've had it up to 35 on a forest trail and it felt pretty dam fast. It certainly had plenty more to go. If you already haven't, check out the other sites and they'll pretty much verify what I'm saying. One of the best quads for the price. Hope this is helpful.

1100 trouble free miles here. I have had this thing through about anything you can imagine. I've been through mud and water where the headlights were briefly submerged and this tough little machine has never let me down. Best bang for the buck out there in my opinion. I have heard of a few problems being with getting krud into the carb, and alot of people suggest an inline fuel filter to cheaply correct the problem. Personally i haven't had any trouble like this. One thing i have noticed with my eiger was the little black snap thingys that hold the plastic together surrounding the engine bay were cheap and started popping out. And i found once they are taken out they didn't seem to be right and tight aftyer putting them back in. I simply took mine out and replaced them with small bolts and wingnuts, and haven't had any trouble since. The eigers seat is one of the softest i've ever sit on. Acceleration and power is great for the 400 class. I have found that its up there and out performs alot of 450.s as far as speed goes. The eiger is kinda low tech in some areas as far as the 4 by 4 switch being manual and the gauge cluster isn't digital with clock and watnot, but this stuff just didn't make a difference when making my purchase. To me its just less stuff to tear up. As far as getting the job done i haven't seen anyone take their quad any place i didn't follow them. I do have the auto and haven't had any trouble with the belt slipping like some of the others have, but i have expierenced a small churp a few times. I am happy with my decision and would do it all over again. Good luck!

Amphib,
Pictures were taken with my Sony Cyber-shot 4.1 mega pixels digital camera. I had some friends go to hatfield and mcoys for an entire weekend and had a great time but i couldn't make on that trip. You ever decide to come down here to our atv park here in Harlan, Ky just give me a shout and i'll show you around. We have tons of out of staters come here all year long, its some great riding.

Cyber shot eh? Does a fine job... Ya know, I might take you up on that offer but probably not until spring / summer. Tell me though, how much further past Hatfield & McCoy are you and what's the closest town in which I could stay? Hell, I could probably stay in a tent. I've spent alot of time out in the bush with just a ruck on my back. Anyway, I've heard real good stuff about both areas but right now, it seems like y'all down in Kentucky might have the edge. Thanks again.

I have the same problem with my 2005 eiger. I don't think this is right. I have mine in the shop right now and they are looking into it. I loose power going up roads. It drops down to 15 mph and then it will increase up to 20. The shop said that I need a new belt because mine is wore down to less than 28 cm. I only have a 1000 miles on it. We will see if this changes anything. Has anyone else had this problem?
