Default Restoring Quadzilla (again)

hey Guys, I am getting back into riding again. I am about to start a complete rebuild of my 89' 500. The quad is all apart and back from powder coating and i need a a little info. This is my 3rd Quadracer 500 and this one is getting the full treatment, but i cant find my service manual. Anyone know where to get one?

The following are just some of the other things that i might need some help on.
1. Good engine builder ( go thru the bottom end and get some port work done)
2. Shocks? Im not a serious racer so I just need a good trail shock.
3. Wheel and tire choices. What works best?
4. handle bars. Best fit for the zilla.
5. What axel to use and will it require a after market carrier or use the stock unit.
6. Where is the best places to order parts.
7. brake rotors

I think thats enough for now but you guys know where this is going. I plan on having the bike done within 3 months so im going back to the garage.

thanks
Andrew

1. dont have anybody do your motor, if you can go to planetsand.com and talk to a guy named Dr.Q. he is the absolute best when it comes to zillas.... if not ask around there.... i believe tudors is good
2. i got bottom line elka's in front and a rebuilt rear and im happy
5. i have an axcaliber axle, its very nice and a lifetime warranty and you will not need to get a new carrier no matter who you go with... my advice to you would to get an aftermarket swingarm and get a round style carrier and ditch the stock square POS
6. i use RockyMountain.com all the time and Magicracing.com
7. i belive you can only get stock ones.... nobody makes any sweet lookin ones

if you need an exhaust, i got a trinity system sittin in my garage.... the only systems better than the trinity are LRD and the ones Dr.Q makes from time to time

I was thinking about having trinity do the motor. So if I go with them and they say your pipe is the one I need I will buy it. Should I be looking into Trinity building a 500 or is that not a good choice?

some people have had good experiences with them and some have not.....

this is the only pipe they sell for the zilla, it was used for about 2 months until i got my Dr.Q pipe and it has been sitting since

Should you choose Trinity to do your motor work, you'll need a couple bucket-fulls of good luck. Hopefully you wont have issues, because their customer service is less than pathetic... And their work is sub-optimal.

I'll second the notion about Dr. Q.... Contact him regarding who's doing his work these days (I'm sure he's too busy to be doing it himself, as this is only his hobby).

I've been screwed over by Trinity, and had less than good luck with Tudors... I've since learned to do my own work with the help of Dr. Q... Nobody follows his Rx to fix the design shortfalls of this motor, and as far as I know, nobody out there is getting the reliable HP he can.

Good luck,
