spark plugs tech
Ok I went riding twice on my 85 lt250r and fouled a plug. I am running 32:1, it has a larger than stock carb, and had a NGK BR9ES plug. I read it calls for a BR8ES. Is it better to run the 9ES? I assume its a hotter plug. What are the signs of a plug that is fouling? I noticed it was not wanting to keep idling at a stand still about 20 min before it happened. My stator is going out could this cause problems with fouling. I ran through a puddle and it immediately started to bog down..... I tried to get the rpms up but it just kept bogging and stalled. I bought this thing last week (recently rebuilt top end) I hope its not a junk motor. ALso are there any sites to get performance parts for lt250rs I keep finding stuff for the trx but no lt. Thanks for the schooling I know I am asking some pretty basic stuff but it's the only way to learn for me.

A 9 is a colder plug than an 8 when it comes to NGK.
If you are having fouling problems I would go to an 8 plug.
99% of the time if your fouling plugs on a two stroke one of three things are happening. 1. Your running too much oil or 2. Your jetting is off or 3. your compression is down. Sometimes all three are out to lunch.
Yes, a week stator can cause fouling problems.
The first thing you need to do is a compression. If that turns out ok then you have to look at the other 2.
Personally I have never ran anything more than 40 to 1. Sometimes I run 50 to 1. I have not fouled a plugs in many many years. I don't even look at plugs in any of my two strokes anymore.
Good luck with your problem, I hope you get it solved.
