Most chain driven ATVs lose roughly 8-10 BHP through the drivetrain.
DIrect shaft loses about 12-15bhp depending on the set up.
CV joints lose even more and if you REALLY want to be amazed sometime, check out the calculations that a Snomobile gives up from engine-to-track. Its like an engine making 100hp translates to something like 40-50hp @ the track-to-surface hook-up.

Hey yall, my z is approaching completion, do you all think i am comparable power wise to any of the 450's. What about with small mods like slip on pipes. I know stock, i will have them all. But i also what to know if my numbers above are an accurate guess of my h.p. Again like 39-40. I know that sounds alittle high, but i am being optimistic.lol. Peace.
