I'd say put the airbox back on....a clamp on can actually loose velocity and cause you to run rich. Just throwin some idea's out there

kawiking:

yes the 27-29#s you see are at the wheels. The engine of an '05-'06 makes 37bhp at the crank.

Most chain driven ATVs lose roughly 8-10 BHP through the drivetrain.

DIrect shaft loses about 12-15bhp depending on the set up.

CV joints lose even more and if you REALLY want to be amazed sometime, check out the calculations that a Snomobile gives up from engine-to-track. Its like an engine making 100hp translates to something like 40-50hp @ the track-to-surface hook-up.

I do run a clamp on...it's good for top-end power/wide open power (should work well with my cams) I will be getting a tube (for more velocity) when I have the money

Hey yall, my z is approaching completion, do you all think i am comparable power wise to any of the 450's. What about with small mods like slip on pipes. I know stock, i will have them all. But i also what to know if my numbers above are an accurate guess of my h.p. Again like 39-40. I know that sounds alittle high, but i am being optimistic.lol. Peace.

I just purchased a new 06 Z400 thursday Night and the mco stated hp @36.6. When putting it into the safe I looked at my wifes 05 mco and it stated the same.
