Default 05 kingquad pinging

my 05 kingquad is making noise from the top end maybe pinging when I give it full throttle hard to tell what it is. I have always ran super unleaded gas and I do not think it has made this noise before. Any thoughts of suggestions.

Are you running the stock air filter? Is there any smoke or oil use?

yes I am running stock air filter and it has been working fine. No smoking or oil use and the filter has been sealing fine and I use a little grease on the seal. I tried new gas today and still sounds like a ping or knocking sound on the top end with hard throttle. no noise at hi idle even all the way to rev limiter.

Have you checked the valve adjustment? How many miles do you have on your bike?

Also, have you checked the butterfly to make sure it is claen? The stock filters will let dirt pass through the paper, not just under it!

the butterfly was a little discolored / looking a little dirty but I did not know if that was normal. I have not had the valves adjusted. I did not know the filter was letting dirt through it should I change it out. I have 700 miles on it.

The butterfly should be clean as it was new. I would bring this to the dealers attention and change to a Twin Air filter or at least a Uni. I have a great connection on parts. PM me if interested. Some motors have went down because the stock filter has let dirt in. You also need to have the valves checked. That was part of the 100 mile service that should have been done. Have you ever been on the NYROC site?
Thanks
David

thanks I will call and get a appointment to have the valves checked and have them look at the butterfly. I looked down the intake and it looks perfectly clean past the butterfly but the butterfly is a little dirty but not bad it looks like there in a bypass hose that lets air in on top of the butterfly that would dirty the butterfly a little. I will check out RYROC thanks.
