z400 jugging in 2nd gear
#1
hi i just bought a used 04 z400 and i was ride and i shafted into 2nd gear and tryed to climb a hill, i made it, but it started to jugg whenn i got to the mid it seem like i might need to put a 13 tooth sprocket on it or maybe a fmf t-4 slipon and do u guys have any i dea what i could do to stop this . thanks

Well, usually anytime you climb a hill you lose power going up, thus requiring you to downshift to make it to the top. If this only happens on hills I wouldn't worry about it, sounds normal to me.

OK, so you shifted from 1st to 2nd and attempted the hill, got halfway up and the quad "jugged"(not quite sure what you mean, I'm assuming lugged or bogged down?). Do you have any other "jugging" problems any other time on flat ground, other hills, etc. You may need to regear, it's cheap and simple to change a countershaft sprocket. What do you have for gearing now?

i have stock gears and no it dont do it on flat ground just when i am on a hill it boggs down and like i said i have a mojave thats stock and it will make it up without bogging down
