Default petcock>needle/seat?

So on my wife's 97 Suzuki I had problem with it FILLING UP the crankcase with gas!!!

The motor ran great when it wasn't full of fuel

So anyway...I was playing with the petcock tonight and I learned something new...

The petcock as three settings...res/on/pri!

WTF is pri? I always thought it was the off position but in the PRI position is when it's getting max flow! I'm guessing it means primary. Anyway...when I put it to the on or res position gas will trickle to a stop but on pri it flows great.

this model uses a vacuum setup to help transfer fuel from the petcock to the carb and my question is...if left in the pri position and if some residual vacuum is left in the system...can the fuel somehow be pushed into the carb and fill up the cylinder, wash it out and fill up the crankcase(it sat a while in the pri position)

Thanks for reading,

Jason

Prime means full flow to the carb, and is supposed to only be used for cold weather starts. It states in the owners manual that it can overflow the carb float and fill the cylinder with fuel if left in prime. Unfortunatly there is no fuel shutoff on the vavle.
