Caution, check the clamp bolts on the handle bars of the Kings.

Last night when I started the process of changing out my bars. I took the pod off and then removed the display. Then I started to remove the clamp bolts on the bars and I was shocked to find that one side of the clamp was just finger tight. I removed the bolts from it without the need for a ratchet. The other side was tight and I guess was all that had been holding the bars all this time. I had never noticed any bar movement or anything and I guess the dealer thought that one clamp being tight was enough. I know how easy it is to forget things and when you are busy it is easy to overlook things but this could have gotten me seriously hurt.
I have not had any dealings with the dealer that I got my King from in a long time. They turned out to have a bunch of liars working in the service and parts department. So I cut ties with them shortly after I bought the my King. I will be on the phone with Suzuki America as soon as the left coast wakes up.
I would strongly suggest that everyone take a few minutes and check to make sure that you do not have the same problem. The torque setting was not very high for the bolts. Even though there is a lock washer on the bolt I added some blue lock tite to the bolt and torqued them to spec. I would rather have problems getting the bars off then have them come loose on me at the wrong time.
I hope and pray this is an isolated instance and that no one else finds the same problem.
Thanks
David
