Default Eiger backfire

I bought my 06 eiger 4 wheel drive automatic a couple weeks ago and love it. The only question or concern I have is when I shut it off it will backfire a little out of the exhaust. Could it be because I have only 45 miles on it or is it just running lean?

yes the eigers fun very lean from the factory...pick up a 128 main jet for it to see if that helps...you may even have to go richer

Well it only has 46 miles on it and it doesnt do it but when I shut it off and sometimes not then. If it does do it is very light. How long did you guys wait to take it in for first service? I dont think the valves need to be adjusted till prolly 500 miles or so. I am gonna change oil for the first time pretty soon.

I took mine up to get the valves adjusted, and my dealer said " I can do it, but i wouldnt reccomend it unless you can hear that it needs adjusting." He said it sounds perfect, and that it isnt cheap to get the valves checked, and adjusted. So i havnt, and it still runs great!!!

If the backfire is still there..theres a few things you can try.
First use pure gas, and not the ethenol blended stuff. If youve been using the blended stuff, switching to pure gas should be enough to stop the popping .
If you have been using pure gas, does it also pop on sudden throttle let off?
You could try giving the mixture screw a 1/4 turn richer (out). That should richen the idle enough to get rid of the popping on shut off.
