Here in the center of the country a 450R is $6135 out the door. How do people in califorina afford to live?

Just keep in mind the '05 z400 got a cam job job and a bigger carb. So depending on his experiences and what mods the KFX had how knows why the Z was beating it. Otherwise your 100% right about the two bikes.

I love my Z. I seemed alittle low on power and after slapping an HMF, Proflow K&N, and dynojet it woke right up. I'm very impressed. I don't think I'm going to go around and drag 450's however. My brother has two 450r (MX bikes) and they rip!

The reverse is a great feature for trial riders.

The '05 KFX got all the same upgrades as the z400, they are identical.

The DVX400 didn't get the updates until '06.

You missed my point...

If a stock '05 z400 was a beating a stock '04 KFX the changes for '05 may be the reason. Didn't know I had to spell out the whole point...

Don't think twice, get the Z. And yes, with $1500 you should be able to pass up a STOCK 450. Just wheels/tires, full exhaust, intake and rejetting and I can. Reverse is pretty much a must with all the trail riding I do, so the 450s were never in my consideration. Depends on what kind of riding you'll do, but I say get the Z for all around riding.
