Default 06 z400 dies after a hour or less

I just bought this new and took it for the first ride i rode for about an hour down gravel roads and it just dies. i noticed that the vent tube was creased. could that be the problem? i know nothing about stuff like this. new too the 4 wheelers. and is there any little tricks you can do to make it run better? thanks

Check your choke to make sure its off and check your fuel selector "petcock". Switch it to "on".

Also, you may want to increase your idle just a hair. Its the black **** under the carb. Looking over your handlebars its down on the left hand side under the carburetor.

I can't imagine how the oil had anything to do with that. It sounds like a coincidence more than anything else.

Is it running now? I would think you just ranout of gas/or had some other fuel flow problem. The best upgrade you can make to the quad right now is yourself. Go take the riding safety course. Ride on!

I think scooter hit the nail right on the head with his suggestion right here. It does sound like you still had some fuel in the carb and rode around and used all of it up while the petcock was off and not allowing gas to get in push the choke up to turn it off also, the only way to tell if the went tube had to do with it was uncrease it and try again but to me it sounds like a loss of gas.

well the oil i had in it (what came with it) was to thin i think and it was getting hot cause the fan on the radiator was comming on way to quick and i put the other oil in it and it quit but could be coincidence to.
