Default 2003 400z

I recently purchased my first 4-wheeler after years of 3-wheelers and dirtbikes. I bought a used 2003 400z. I want to get an exhaust, I mostly trail ride but there are also alot of dirt roads to open it up on and some tracks nearby. Any suggestions on exhaust/air filter/jetting?
Any other hop-up suggestions? Thanks

it all depends on how much money you are willing to spend on the quad. an exhaust can cost anywhere between $300/$800 depending on what you like
you will get a lot of responses on this. yoshimura make a nice pipe for the Z. I started with a yoshi and it was a good pipe till I redid the motor
I run a trinity stage 4 on it now and really love it the only thing it doesnt have is a spark arrester. do a lot of research on the exhaust to find what you want, get you some nice shocks for it, the 03 stock are ok but a nice set of elkas orworks and there is others but cant remember who makes them will give you better handling for the extra power for the exhaust and like I was told once you start to mod the quad you wont stop. and I know this because of what I spent on mine

it all depends on the amount of money you have and if its not a problem then getting and exhaust shouldn't be a problem. Some pretty good names are hmf, trinity, lrd, yoshimura, white brothers, and the only dual exhaust which is looney tuned racing which will set you back a pretty penny. As for air filters I would recommend K&n but there is also uni and a few others. Jetting there is dynajet and there are different stages depending on the application.

I am looking at spending between $800-$1000. Is it a good idea to get a high rev cdi if I get the exhaust? I have heard from others that both the Yoshi and CT exhausts are great any opinions on these.

I couldn't tell you how the ct racing exhuast is but my friend has a yoshi it seems to be a very good exhuast and yoshi and suzuki are in with one another. Yea get the cdi once you get the exhuast because the power gains will be much better and be able to rev to alot higher rpms. check to see if you could find some z400's with looney tuned exhaust to be honest I like the dual's or hmf has colored pipes and white pro's has their carbon fiber pipes. Also alba racing has some pretty good pipes.

I dont get the thing w/ the cdi. Wont it blow out your engine because you rev so high?

I'm not sure how much higher it revs but itll give more performance but without blowing it up but I know it outrevs the stock thats for sure like for my ds 650 some cdi's will allow it to rev 1000rpms higher

I was looking at my cdi and it looks like a pain to take out. I know about most of the atv engine, but dont know how to install much.
