Default How accurate are our odometers?

Went for a nice long ride yesterday. I was on my 06 King and my buddy on his 05 Vinson. When we got back to the trailer, he had registered 114 miles and I, only 108. We reset our odometers before the ride and made the same trip on all dry trails. Both machines are completely stock. Any idea why the readings are so far off? Are we not to trust ATV odometers and only consider them an "estimate"? Just something to get everyone's brain moving this morning!

What size tires are on your machine? My dad has 26" lites on his, so he is always a little bit off from everyone else.

Under or over inflated tires, or non stock or worn out tires, could account for the 4% or so discrepancy.
With good stock tires, ive found all my quads to be very close to the gps, for both odometer and mph.

me and my friend just tonight were out for a drive, i followed right behind him, I have a Suzuki Eiger (2004) and he has a Honda 350 (2001), we have the same tires (25 inch mudlights) when we started at my house, and then stopped at his house, we both had exactly 20.2KM.
