I have got a 03 z400 and I get one spark when you first try to start it, then it goes dead. Tried new plug, and a friends CDI box, and the stator is about 6 mos. old. The only funny thing is everytime you turn the off/run button back and forth you get one spark and then nothing. If you leave it in the run position you get one spark and then have to wait 30 secs. before you get another one. Any help would be much apprecitated.

 

to me it sounds like the switch might be shorting out inside or you have a wire grounding out

 

my 04 z400 is doing the same thing with the first start there spark then it stops did you come to a conclusion to what was wrong with that? cause i am lost on what could be wrong with it.

 

no, still have'nt fixed it. I have not had much time to mess with it though I race late models during the summer and ride during the winter.
